EmpowerU is an educational and empowerment platform that originated from the University of Hong Kong as part of a knowledge exchange project. Originally named the Domestic Worker Empowerment Program (DWEP), EmpowerU aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of migrant workers in Hong Kong via courses on practical health and nutrition, basic rights and empowerment, nature appreciation, physical fitness, and performing arts. The goal is to equip domestic workers with the necessary skills for their jobs, help them assimilate to life in the city, and prepare them for life after working in Hong Kong. EmpowerU aims to become Asiaโs largest education platform for migrant workers. EmpowerU is supported by Migrasia, a student-led social enterprise, and collaborates with governmental, non-profit and corporate stakeholders to deliver course content to thousands of women in Hong Kong.
